CROSSING THE FEET
Did you ever try sitting with your feet and not your legs crossed? If you have ever noticed anyone in this positio, I'm sure you ahve realized he presented a pleasing sight.
It is often a temptation for boys to cross their legs with the ankel of one resting on the knee of the other thus leaving his protruding knee sticking out into the space supposed to be occuped by his neighbor. To say the least, this is unthoughtful.
Feet need to be under careful supervision whether the owner is sitting on the platform, in his home, or at school. It's a fact that even though one thinks he will be proper when he is away from home, yet unless he practices being careful while at home, he will forget his is away. He will unconsciously revert to those awkward positions in which he relaxed at home.
ORDERING
The boy of the couple is the host! That means the girl tells the boy what she wishes for dinner and he does the ordering. If the orders are to be written, as a rule the boy does the writing.
Is is considerate of the young man to give the girl some idea as to his financial situation. Oh, he is not supposed to say "All I got is a buck, remember to stay within that." Oh no! But there are subtle ways such as when he looks at the menu he may suggest something which he is able to pay for and tell the girl she will probably find that selection good. Then if the girl is quick, she will know the price range within which she should order. She should be careful to order nothing which would be more expensive than that which he mentioned. Sometimes young men suggest several dinners on a menu.
MISTAKES
Under no circumstances must a boy let on he notices a mistake a girl makes nor must a girl allow a boy to know she saw his mistake unless it is something she can help him with or which he can help or remedy. If water is spilled, the boy should call the waitress. Sometimes a napkin will fix a table accident. Everything should be carried on with dignity and with the least amount of notice.
