Excerpt from my new favorite book.

"Teen Age Etiquette" by Grace RamQuist. Copyright 1959.

In America, it has become the custom for everyone to take a daily bath. Some prefer to take shower baths every day except one; and on that one day to take a tub bath.

Baths do not take care of everything, that is true. But they help a great deal! There are some girls and boys who think they do not need protection from deodorants and I have heard 'them say so! But even as they have boasted of their clean small, I have winced, for nearly always they are the worst offenders in the neighbourhood. A person has a tendency to become accustomed to his own body odor and so fails to realize he is unpleasant company....

Let us do our best to have our "smell" as pleasant as possible.

In order to "small clean" one's undergarments must be changed often. This is possible even for those of modest means. Underclothes may be washed out each evening; it is thus possible to get by with only one change and still wear clean ones daily!
